Description

Learn to weave on these simple portable weaving tools! In this beginner course, we will learn to warp our looms and how to create on the loom using different fiber preps. We will create a 18" seat cushion for you to take home using 100% wool locks and roving. We will discuss how to take your weaving off the loom, ways to handle your warp strings, and the best options for both warp and weft.

Fees

The Class Fee is paid during registration. The materials fee is paid directly to the instructor at the beginning of class, preferably in cash.

Friday Morning,  hours

Morning classes start at 9 am. Afternoon classes start at 1 pm.

Students to Bring

  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure
  • A peg loom. If you do not have one, you can purchase one prior to class either through the instructor's website or the Air Maith Fiber Studios booth at the Greencastle Wool Show.

Instructor Bio

Case Runyan

Case Runyan has been a fiber artist – knitter, spinner, pattern designer, weaver, dyer, processor – for 20 years, and is now the owner of Aoire Maith Fibre Studios, a small scale fibre studio dedicated to helping promote the benefits of wool, working with small, local shepherds, and fostering the use and continued breeding of the endangered sheep breeds on The Livestock Conservancy’s Shave Em to Save Em list (but really, she loves all the wool all the time). Case is dedicated to opening the fiber arts to everyone, offering affordable tools and techniques that can be practiced with ease and creating opportunities for anyone at any skill level to enjoy and make progress in the fiber arts.
