Description

A quick dive into three unique fibers that can be intimidating. In addition to spinning each fiber, we will talk cultivation, prep, appropriate spinning technique and the care and feeding of the yarn. This class finishes with dressing a distaff and spinning flax into gold! Just kidding. Spinning flax into linen.

Fees

The Class Fee is paid during registration. The materials fee is paid directly to the instructor at the beginning of class, preferably in cash.

Class Fee $ 45

Materials Fee $ 20 

Skill Level

Able to spin a consistent single using preferred spinning style

Schedule

Saturday Afternoon,  hours

Morning classes start at 9 am. Afternoon classes start at 1 pm.

Students to Bring

  • A working spinning wheel
  • Bobbins for the wheel

Instructor Bio

Nelly DeVault

Nelly, a Farming Fiber Artist from central Indiana, has a passion for education and the fiber arts. Nelly has found her calling in bringing the craft of making yarn by hand to young and old as a way to develop community, empower youth, and increase awareness of this path to better mental health. Nelly lives in Alexandria, Indiana, has four children and two feral cats, and teaches classes and workshops in central Indiana and throughout the Midwest.
