Twined Rag Rug Weaving

Description

Students will learn weft twining on a small loom and use fabrics that they will bring and cut in class. Twined rugs tend to be heavier, thicker, and more durable than many other rag rugs and use much of the same terminology as weaving. Different pitches and color usage with be utilized to learn techniques when making a sampler in class. Finished sampler will be approximately 14" x 20".

Fees

The class fee includes both the materials fee and the workshop fee.

Schedule

Friday Morning, 3 hours

Morning classes start at 9 am. Afternoon classes start at 1 pm. All-day classes meet in both time slots, with an hour break for lunch.

Students to Bring

  • Contact Lisa to get list of materials/tools to bring from home.

Instructor Will Provide

  • Loom, which is kept by the student

Instructor Bio

Lisa Thyr

Lisa began crocheting as a young girl and began knitting in high school. Encouraged by two friends to learn to spin, she has since spent many years exploring raising sheep, spinning, and weaving. She has many other craft hobbies and interests, and creates unique and one-of-a-kind shawl pins, fiber related jewelry, and other hand-crafted items.
